Overview | Pigment Reduction
Pigmentation is a common occurrence in light-skinned as well as dark-skinned people. While light-skinned people tend to affect from superficial dark spots due to early sun damage, dark skinned people suffer from melisma and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH). Melasma is patchy brown discoloration and PIH is triggered by injury or inflammation on the skin. The treatment for pigment reduction is designed differently for each condition and may be a combination for two or more different kinds. Topical therapy, chemical peels, light and laser therapy and many other types of treatments exist.
Radiance's Approach
To Pigment Reduction
Pigmentation due to sun damage is a major concern that is addressed by a host of different treatments at Radiance Clinic. Pigmentation reduction treatments target dark spots in light-skinned people and other forms of hyper-pigmentation in dark-skinned people. Topical hydroquinone or retinol is the common treatment of choice for dark spots. Chemical peels containing salicylic acid and glycolic acid are commonly used in conjunction with topical therapy. Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) and q-switched lasers also are commonly applied. For targeting pigmentation, Hydroquinone therapy is best but non-ablative fractionated lasers and low-level Q-switched lasers are also put to use depending on the condition.
